NORTH DEVON

From Our Ambassador: A September Update

This month has felt nicely busy and productive. With Bespoke now just round the corner there is something to really get my teeth stuck into. The week with Freddie down was virtually full time but gave a lot of time to get to know him and his approach to creative work.

U3A dance classes started at the beginning of the month. Over the 4 weeks numbers have grown. All the women are very enthusiastic and have even agreed to be part of the Bespoke performance!

I was really pleased when Brayford Primary School contacted me about Street Dance. Working fast between us we managed to turn it around in just over one week enabling Sam to deliver 2 sessions – one at Brayford and the other at Umberleigh Primary School.

My highlight for the month was definitely the two days working with Freddie at Beaford. Looking ahead, I'm really looking forward to working creatively on the Bespoke project.

North Devon Highlights So Far...

The richness in Devon's culture and tradition was there for all to see at the North Devon Compass Launch in February...

In March we Schools signed up to the Big Dance School's Pledge and through the project, hundred's of primary and secondary school children in North Devon were able to take part in a nationwide Olympic Celebration as the Olympic Torch arrived on British shores.

North Devon Dance Ambassador Katy Lee worked directly with the North Devon Home Schooling Network, offering mentoring, teaching and guidance..

The Compass Project also reached into the wider North Devon Arts Scene, contributing the "Art of Gathering" workshop in collaboration with North Devon Environmental Artist Pete Ward.
